Hi guys,

Time to see a bright Comet. You can follow the comet McNaught using Sun dialog in Tachyon. Go to SOHO images in Sun Images tab. The bright object is the comet.

Have fun,

This is a must see comet. It has been my best since West, about 30 years ago. Comets this bright don’t happen too often. Could be a long wait until the next one. It is moving to a less favorable position for us in the Northern Hemisphere but should provide those in the South some decent views. I managed to see it three nights in a row this week. Tonight will probably be my last chance but the weather does not look too favorable. What you have been reading about it is true. It is very bright. I managed to image it with only one degree of elevation with thick haze from about 15d down. F/8 @ 1/10s So it has to be bright to show up through all the gunk. Venus is usually extinguished buy the time it reaches that elevation.
Bob
And Happy New year to all.

Hi Bob,

Because of this comet I am developing a new tab in visibility as to inform elevation at sunset/sunrise at several dates. Also I have yet developed a major overhaul in dialogs to allow any screen size and landscape to work with Tachyon. Also a new feature is a "double size"scrollable SkyChart

However for me it is impossible to see it Sad In Brasilia weather in January and February is awful and very rarely you see stars in the sky.

Regards,

Paulo I just got back in from another viewing and it has brightened even more. I could see it naked eye before the sun was all the way down.
The new tabs sound like a good idea. Is there a way to add the current Alt/Az of the planets to such a tab? The other day I was trying to find Venus in the daytime and that info would have been handy. I know I find that out by using the sky chart, but having it in tabular form is sometimes nice. I don’t want you to clutter the new tabs either.

Hi all,

unfortunately the weather is bad (if not cold for a Winter Surprised ) particularly in the evenings on West Europe.
At least I can see the APODs Laughing
My best wishes for an Happy New Year to all of you.
