Hi,
I'll try to show some of Tachyon capabilities with a little text followed by screens captured from an AXIM X50V with WM2005. If you have not yet decided to upgrade to a VGA device maybe it is a good time now.
Let's begin our tour.
This screen below is a standard VGA initialization screen of Tachyon with no Telescope connected.
If you go to Views/ Sky Charts Tachyon will show a screen as following that have, in this case, a beautiful screen of Bootes / Canes Venatici region, whre you can see some comets scattered.
If we click over FIND a new submenu will appear. You can click over Messier and a dialog will appear. You write 31 and Tachyon will go to the beautiful Andromeda Galaxy, as below
If you click over PREFS and, after that Z2.5, Tachyon will zoom in to a field of 2.5 centered in Andromeda Galaxy as shown below. You can see Tachyon plotting colorful (spectral based) stars and identifying objects like M110
If you press INFO, Tachyon will show detailed information about the object as depicted below
And even better, it shows you detailed visual description of objects, based on Steve Gottlieb wonderful work.
But even more interesting is to show sketch of objects as expected to be seen through a telescope.
You can even cross-reference with any catalog in Tachyon to show you detailed INFO on objects centered some ar-min around centered position. That way you can check distinct descriptions of the same object in several catalogues, like stras, galaxies, x-ray, quasars etc.
