Original U.S. Civil War Homemade Iron Knuckle Dusters Japanese Marines over the chamber and 44Original Item: One of a kind. Just acquired from a recent military auction, is a great example of an iron knuckle duster dating from the United States Civil War. These were moderately popular for close combat during the war. These are quite smart looking, and probably were hand carved after the original casting. The knuckles measure 3 3 4 inches wide by 2 5 8 inches high and 5 8 inches wide at the widest part.
